Pastels at Dawn

Early morning hues over Baslow Edge as seen from Curbar Edge in the Peak District.

After another ridiculously early start from home involving a two hour drive, I stopped the car and made the short walk to the edge at Curbar.

I’d had this particular angle in mind for a little while but this was the first time that I had managed to capture the scene with both a valley inversion over the Chatsworth Estate and also some cloud cover. The clouds were picking up some of the late dawn pastel colours which just lifted the shot perfectly. This colour only lasted a short while though, but I was in the right spot waiting for it to happen … on this occasion it did. Job done!!!
