The Western Scottish Highlands captivates me at every turn. Be it the vast barren landscape that is Rannoch Moor through to the fabulous ‘Five Sisters of Kintail’, a mountain range that appears to rise up straight from the side of the road. It’s hard not to be impressed as you travel through. Needless to say, the first time I ever laid eyes upon Eilean Donan castle, I instantly fell in love with her and the wonderful location she sits in. Sitting proudly within Loch Duich she historically stood as a fortress for the lands of Kintail.
I have taken many shots over the years of this location but had never been blessed with the fabulous conditions on this particular evening. The dark shadows at the base of the distant mountains provided a perfect backdrop to the castle that was bathed in late evening sunlight.
